Spring time

Sat Aug. 29/09
Every weekend they have a market down town at the court house park. We rode the bikes down about 8 klms and spent more than two hours walking around. Did buy some stuff to take home. It was a good idea to get away from the house Brad and Kerrie could do B&B business. We came home for lunch only to find out we are heading for the beach for a picnic on the sand. This is a nice way to cool off after being in the sun shopping. Those that live here say it is starting to warm up. Spring Time is here. At 6:00 pm, that is the girls went to the Opera at the beach and the guys went to the stock car races. Both groups had a good time. You'll all come back ya hear. DDT

Sea sick day

Friday Aug 28/09
Up early waiting for the van to pick us up. Wendy stayed home with Jake and Marlyn while we go a hunting. Nine of us were on the boat, a 42 foot 6 1/2 ton 6 cyl diesel jet boat. Very nice with lots of room for all. We saw a sea snake, turtle and lots of whales. A big shark went by the boat just under the surface after eating my large catch. The fishing boat guide said that this happens a lot. The fishing was great. Most times someone had a fish coming into the boat, lots going back to grow up. Brad and I had more than we needed that was for sure. The work came when we got home and had to fillet them. A fillet would cover a large dinner plate. Oh ya almost forgot I was the only one to get sea sick. Not much fun some of the time but I worked hard to get all the fishing in I could. Anyway that done another day in. DDT

China Town

Thurs. Aug 27/09
We drove down town to China Town to do some shopping. Brad said we could spend all day down there and he was right. We went from shop to shop up and down the streets. Wendy and Brad booked our flights and rooms going back to Sidney and up to Wayne's. Brad booked us for a camel ride and boat cruise Brad has a deep sea fishing trip booked for Friday. It turned out to be a little slower day for us all. Getting a wee bit played out this non stop touring. Look for tomorrows story. DDT

Tide Day

Wednesday Aug 26/09
Wendy and I went to the beach. We rode the bikes down and claimed a spot and sunbathed. In a short time the water was up near the bikes so moved them farther up the sand. Had a swim and more sun,, oh look we have to move the bikes again. The tide is coming in and if you don't pay attention you will get wet. We were told that some people have gone for a walk or boating and come back to find their car is under water somewhere on the beach. After lunch we went up town and left Wendy at the Mall and Brad and I went to the Home Hardware looking for material to make an outdoor shower at the pool. Another day gone by. DDT

Cleaning Day

Brad had to clean out one of the units and I cleaned the pool and water filter. I did some work on Kerrie's 4x4. After we cleaned up we drove to Willy Creek to tour a Pearl Farm. On the way back we drove around the golf course and did see some Roos and Wallabeys. That was about all we could do for today Bye... DDT

Easy day

Brad took us to the end of the peninsala then down the rocks to see the Dino foot prints. Just like they were made yesterday. Kerrie flew off to work. We had little jobs to do like washing and go to the store to get food and wine for tonights supper. Bar-Bee-Qu steak. Easy day I say. DDT

Off to Broome

Up early to drive to Melborne and a plane ride to broome. Looking forward to this part of the trip to see Brad and Kerrie's place. The change in temp as we stepped off the plane was enough to raise your blood pressure. Didn't take long to change cloths. After lunch we had to go for a swim in the pool just to cool off. I had a nap and then we headed for the beach for a 40 minute walk then sat around until sunset. This is the number one show each day to watch the sun go out in the ocean. See ya! DDT
PS Thank JH for telling us all is well. Tell Sheila the plant must hate us.

Birthday

Saturday Aug 22/09...Frost most everywhere. The top of the ground is hard. Brad and I went with Lowie to feed the cattle then he took us all over the country side and showed us lots from old gold mines to old home steads and up to a volcano bowl. There isn't power out this way on most farms so wind mills are the pumps for water and some have wind turbines for power. Fleur took us for a drive the otherway from the farm to a mountain then a climb up a lookup tower. You coud see for miles. On the way back we stopped for a winery tour and tasting. For supper we went to the town pub for beers and the biggest meal to celebrate Feur's Birthday. One more day comes to and end. Sorry these bloggs are all published on the same day but it is hard to get on a computer around here. Someone is on it or we are busy. DDT

Fair dinkum day

Today Wendy and I went for a ride on a big red Roo. Some ride that was!!!!

The last day of this long drive. We drove down town had breakfast then on the road heading N.W. to Fluer's place. We didn't know until we turned the radio on that we were 20 minutes late of being in a very high wind storm, that shut down a great deal of Melboure's morning traffic. The storm came down the road that we were going to drive on. It was hard to drive with the after wind as is was. Some trees broke down and leaves everywhere. Quite a bit cooler today, (from the storm). We arrived at the Smith's with sore butts and needed a good walk. For supper we were served a mixed Bar-B-Que mmmmm great.

Ferry day

Today we drove more to the south of Melbourne. We decided we didn't need to drive through the city when we can stick to the coast. This took us down the Mornington Peninsula and crossed over at The Port of Phillips on a ferrie. Before dark we went for a long walk along the beach. Wendy commented it is so peacefull just the water and a light breeze. We stayed in a cabin on the beach. We found this place by accident. Brad went down the wrong street and had to turn around. Fleur said this a RV Trailer park and some have cabins. Ha! ha! it did. Brand new and it was nice. Is was overcast and raining off and on so we ordered in pizza and just stayed there. We were a bit tred from all the driving I guess. See Ya! DDT

Mob day

Woke up to heavy fog waiting for Brad and Kerrie to pick us up. We got on the road about 8:30 and headed for the coast. The road is very winding and heavy forest. We finally reached the coast. Beauty of it's own kind. The waves, rocks and wildlife here is very different. We stopped at the best tasting ice cream bar in the country so they said. Had a cone at 9:00 am very good. Then farther on we stopped at a cheeze factory. Wwwwooo great stuff. We stayed for lunch then back on the road, we have a long distance to cover today. We ended the drive at Lake Enterance right on the coast. This place is the largest fishing port in AU. I did get to drive for awhile to give Brad a break. No heating in the rooms but all the beds have electric blankets and I used mine. I was so damn cold. The highlight for today was the stop at a golf course where a MOB of Roo's were grazing. I got some great pictures and one of a Joey. Fluer said you find Roo's in paddocks mostly anywhere. I'm out of here. DDT

Rememberance Day

Tues. Aug 18/09
You didn't hear this from me, Frost on the deck and roofs. Can you believe is? A major change of cloths. We went for a tour of the War Museum. Very nice informative tour. We wanted to tour winerys on the way but found out they are closed until Sept. Just another season thing. We took a highway over to the coast road. Very scenic drive. The road winds in and out up and down and narrow. The forest are mostly gun trees, some small pine. It is were dry and should be green and the rain season. They are not looking forward to the summer as it brings the forsest fires. We drove to Moruya NSW on the coast. Brad and Kerrie have freinds here. They left us in a pink Hotel and they went to stay the night up the hill. We carried our bags through the lobby across the court yard, up stairs turned on a landing then more stairs down a hall to our room. Fleur had help all the way, ( Fredy ) worked so hard to give all the help he could. Drunk as he was. Tourism isn't the big thing this time of the year.

Government Day

Monday August 17/09
After the school bus left we packed up and headed south on the freeway. The road kill here is Wombat. Fat little cat size rodents. Only seen at night so no picture of them. We drove to Canberra the Capital of Australia. Very nice and well laid out City. We toured the government building and Brad and Fleur went and sat in on a session and Kerrie visted with a freind that lives here. We decided to have Tea in our room tonight. Great idea. The temperature is a wee bit cooler the more we go south. It is winter and we seem to forget that because of no snow. To be continued. DDT

School day

Monday morning. School day and we have to walk to the bus stop with Jen and watch her go off to school. I have pictures of the event. I asked Jen if her bus was yellow. I got an answer with all the reasons why they don't have yellow busses. The web cam event was the high light of the day. Watching the kids get the computer set up just the right way for all to see and then the wait for the computer ringing that Grandma was on. I did feel that I was cut short, ( grandpa wasn't on ). Jen and I have a picture of what he was going to see. Too bad you missed out. Look for tomorrows events.

Moving day

Today we moved out of our Hotel, picked up the rental. We are driving north to Wayne and Jacquie"s. We arrived at 12:00 just in time for a light lunch. It was decided we would stay for the night for more time to visit and relax. It was a great idea in the end. We went to watch the feeding of the peligans, the back to the house for drinks and a back yard fire. The house is very roomy and open. Jacquie said I could stay for a month and make her a kitchen. Look for tomorrows entery. Dale

Sydney AU

Some of you are questioning why I have not made an entery. That I have given some thought to. First is while traveling why isn't there enough time in a day to sit down and write the blog. Second is we were so busy I didn't have time to do any writing. Third I didn't want to write something and post it only to wake you up to read it. Any more reasons would be redicuios.
Back to the blog. We were very tired when we arrived and had to adjust to missing some of our night time. Then we waited for Brad and Kerrie to arrive and then we crammed as many tours into what time we had and that didn't add up to what time we had available. There you have it.
We are having a ball, seeing as much of down town Sydney that we can. Getting use to looking the right way before stepping of the curb. You should see the surprized look on the Taxi driver when I opened the door on the right side of the car to get in... Not really... We did the climb Glen I would love to have you tell us what was higher. The bridge or the ruins. The weather is great not cold for us. We rented a van and drove up to Wayne and Jacquies to see them. They are looking great and I feel they are staving for Canadian company. We are staying over night then we start driving south tomorrow. All is great with us, Wendy has a cold and sore throat that is dragging her down a bit but seems to be on the mend. Bye for now Dale and Wendy
